I made a quilt for our son a while back, and have been itching to make one for our daughter now that she’s about to transition to a toddler bed from the crib. Mark came up with a sketch and we bought fabric for it, although a lot of the floral fabric is leftover from her nursery or outfits I sewed for her as a baby, so that’s a fun memory/tie to her early days. Here’s the front:

I’ve never had such pressure to finish a big project, because we showed out two year old the fabric and told her about it, so she cried every night when we put her down, asking for her pink blanket with the flower… hard to say it’s not done yet to that! Finally figured out to just tell her “I need to sew some more pink on it!” and she’s okay waiting.
I think what really makes this quilt is the stitching, around the petals and inside. It was trickier than the straight lines on my first quilt on my little sewing machine but so glad I tried, because it really adds detail and wasn’t as hard as I was expecting.
For this only being my second quilt, it wasn’t too hard or time consuming. I probably worked around 15 hours on it over two weeks? Our daughter gets giddy everytime we take it out to dance on right now. Hopefully she’ll be just excited to sleep with it (and not climb out of bed every 30 seconds like last time we tried switching to a toddler bed…).
